Course Overview


    In this course educators will learn how to cultivate respect and trust in the classroom and in the school community, create understanding rather than fear about racial and cultural differences within the classroom, and address differing student perspectives and introduce new thinking in support of cooperation. This course contains a curriculum development component and manuals.               

 

Course Objectives


•    Examine the role of cultural diversity in the classroom
•    Understanding the numerous ecological influences of cultural diversity on American educational systems
•    Understand effective multicultural education and learn how to adapt it across various student populations and educational problems.
•    Identify hate crimes and look at tools to respond and mitigate such crimes in school.
•    Explore how to integrate multicultural awareness and diversity in schools
