Course Overview
This course offers educators a deeper understanding of the knowledge of environmental education and how it relates to development and intelligence. This course contains a curriculum development component and manuals. This course will explore how children benefit from a relationship to nature and how educators can implement environmental curriculum into the classroom for all areas of study.
Course Objectives
• Investigate how a lack of connection to nature can cause problems for children and how integrating an environmental education curriculum can improve problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Study how to cultivate the natural ability in children to understand and care for nature.
• Connect curriculum and place-based education in the classroom.
• Address the recent condition of children and their relationship to nature in the context of current cultural beliefs and systems.
